JOB TITLE: Youth Programs Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

OVERSEES: All youth programming at Ancaster Community Services: Youth Engagement Program ‘The Net’, Youth Job Readiness, Babysitting Course, and the Santa to a Senior holiday campaign.

AGENCY BACKGROUND: Ancaster Community Services is a non-profit, multi-service agency and charity in the heart of Ancaster, Ontario, providing programs and services for seniors, income challenged families, youth and the community at large for over 50 years. Our mission: ACS serves the diverse community of Ancaster by providing programs, volunteer opportunities, information and resources which enhance the quality of life for all.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

- **Position start date: July/August 2023**_

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversee the end-to-end operations of all youth programs to ensure efficient, effective and client-centered service to participants
- Build & maintain strategic community partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders
- Promote all youth programs at ACS using effective social media marketing strategies
- Continually update and maintain program evaluations, statistical records and budgets
- Enhance and support the Mission and Vision of the agency's youth strategy, strategic plan and policies
- Develop and mentor the Youth Engagement Team for The Net, recruit student volunteers that will assist in leading and promoting youth activities and provide feedback
- Develop a strong understanding of issues and barriers affecting the youth population and formulate methods to address them
- Act as a local resource to all incoming inquiries regarding youth opportunities
- Support other organizational and office duties as required
- Network and collaborate with other youth-serving community agencies and groups, including the City of Hamilton, local schools and school boards, businesses, and community contacts
- Liaise with Program Manager and Social Media and Marketing Coordinator (and other staff and volunteers) to support agency programs with respect to volunteer recruitment, retention and recognition events

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Strong knowledge of youth services and resources in Ancaster/greater Hamilton area
- Must have a passion for working with youth and helping them to thrive as equal members of the community
- Must be outgoing and have an extremely positive attitude, and be accepting of all youth from diverse backgrounds
- Post-secondary education in a related field (ex. Child and Youth Worker, Youth and Children’s Studies, Social Work, etc.) or a post-secondary degree/diploma with relevant experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of direct experience working with youth in a youth-supportive program
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a team environment
- Demonstrated experience implementing community engagement/development strategies
- Knowledge and sensitivity to the experiences, issues and needs of youth
- Excellent written/oral English language skills and strong interpersonal, communication and organizational abilities
- Experience with social media marketing and the use of platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and creative programs (e.g. Canva, Buffer, Wordpress) to create engaging promotional materials
- Experience with volunteer management software, Better Impact, an asset
- Ability to provide engaging presentations to the public, including funders/donors
- Previous fund development experience is an asset
- Proficient planning skills to develop and implement short and long-term goals
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- A high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information

**ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS**:

- Evening and weekend hours as required
- Mileage allowance will be issued for travel that is work-related
- Agency Cell Phone and Laptop will be provided for the duration of the position
- Valid Ontario G-class driver's license
- Current CPR-C or CPR-B certification, Mental Health First Aid Training and Food Handlers Certification an asset
- Current (within three months) Police Records Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screen (if over age 25) required before starting employment

**Salary**: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
