**Salary**: $2,757.39 to $3,604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967 - $94,068/year)

The EPA Intergovernmental Relations team plays a pivotal role advancing the Ministry’s key priorities in municipal, federal and international forums.
Reporting to the Manager, this position plays an essential role in furthering effective intergovernmental relations that support department and government wide priorities. The position has a significant role in developing and maintaining a strategic departmental approach to its intergovernmental agenda, priorities and relationships.
Key responsibilities of the position include providing strategic advice and analytical support to the department by identifying and analyzing emerging issues and target audiences, researching and writing briefings, developing position papers, preparing and delivering presentations, designing information materials and drafting responses to senior official and elected representative correspondence.
The position also identifies and addresses external pressures by liaising and leveraging relationships with various intergovernmental contacts nationally and internationally, preparing and advising senior officials and elected representatives for domestic and international engagements, meetings, and missions, and supporting and coaching departmental staff to understand the role they must play in order to legitimize the province's economic aspirations.
Specific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing and managing emerging issues that can impact the province's ability to achieve its priorities and objectives.
- Advancing Alberta's integrated resource management objectives through effective intergovernmental relations.
- Ensuring effective departmental participation in intergovernmental forums and relationships.
- Supporting the planning, development and execution of strategic programs and international missions for the Minister, and contributing to missions by the Premier and other ministers, to advance Alberta's priorities and objectives.
- Increasing internal staff knowledge and capacity on intergovernmental relations.
- Tracking and coordinating intergovernmental relations activities.

**Qualifications**:
- University graduation in a related field such as Political Science, International Business, Policy Development or Public Administration supplemented by a minimum of four years of progressive responsibility and experience in fields such as project management, policy development or stakeholder engagement.
**Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of**:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.
**Assets**:
- Over four years related experience in government, the private sector or the not-for-profit sector with exposure to international business, politics or policy development.
- Experience planning and executing events, programs, seminars or conferences.
- Experience identifying and recognizing emerging policy trends and to assess their potential impact on Alberta.
- Experience analyzing and synthesizing complex issues into meaningful and succinct written and verbal briefings for staff and elected officials.
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to present information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
- Superior interpersonal skills, focusing on the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with individual from different levels of governments, the private sector, the general public and different cultural backgrounds (e.g. sensitivity to cross-cultural differences).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; responsiveness and proven ability to meet tight timelines.
