**What can I expect to do in this role?**:

- Plan, organize and implement instructional, recreational and training programs designed to meet the needs of students and lifeguarding staff.
- Schedule staff to ensure safety.
- Maintain records.
- Organize competitive and recreational swimming programs and special community events.
- Implement school policies and to ensure the maintenance of aquatics equipment.
- Availability to work on-call hours as required.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- National Lifeguard Society of Canada Lifeguard Certificate.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Courses in Behaviour Management Systems training or equivalent.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated experience working with students who are Blind/low vision and/or students who are deaf-blind.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective aquatic programs to meet the needs of students.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Public Pools regulations and relevant legislation and Provincial and Demonstration Schools policies and procedures, guidelines and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with using hand-over-hand communication and other non-verbal methods of communication (or willingness to learn) to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and other professionals.
- Good judgement and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds to assist with student transfers.
