Reporting to the Director of Parks & Recreation, the Manager of Aquatics & Fitness is responsible for ensuring that proper human and physical resources are obtained and effectively managed in order to ensure efficient aquatic and fitness facilities, programs, and services to the citizens of Brantford, as well as tourists and residents from surrounding areas.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Manage, administer, and coordinate the aquatics and fitness operations, programs and services at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, Earl Haig Family Fun Park, and Woodman Park Pool, including pools, weight room, fitness, and concessions.
- Review and provide operational procedures and cost analysis for efficient use of human, physical and financial resources.
- Perform human resources related functions, including interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, directing, and disciplining. Establish and control all budgeted expenditures and revenues for the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre Aquatics and Fitness services, Earl Haig Family Fun Park, and Woodman park Pool and annually review fees and charges.
- Provide input for capital work required in order to successfully run programs and services and submit requests for future capital projects.
- Ensure all equipment and maintenance functions of the aquatic and fitness facilities are in good working order and comply with all legislative requirements for the operation of a public pool in Ontario. Interpret and administer corporate policies, policies of the Parks and Recreation department, and legislation that govern aquatics and fitness operations, including Health Regulation 565, the Health & Safety Act, and the Childcare Act.
- Develop and implement internal policies for aquatics and fitness operations to ensure customer and staff safety and satisfaction.
- Work closely with aquatic, fitness recreation, and sport user groups to provide recreational needs, programs, and services for the community.
- Review existing programs and add new programs, equipment, and program plans for aquatic and fitness areas and facilities.
- Gather information, review, and make recommendations regarding aquatic and fitness fee structures, staff pay rates, and operating policies.
- Negotiate facility rental agreements and maintain contact with rental groups.
- Review and oversee all marketing and promotional methods to promote the benefits of recreation and the aquatic and fitness programs and services.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary degree in Recreation and Leisure, Physical Education, Business Administration or related studies.
- Five to seven years of previous experience is required in order to gain knowledge and experience in municipal pool operation, related legislation, and managing a large staff complement
- The incumbent must have previous experience with budgeting, marketing, revenue generation, report writing, and the ability to work in a high-risk environment
- Experience with staff supervision and training, pool chemistry, and the mechanical aspects of pool operations.
- Tact and diplomacy are required when dealing with staff and contacts
- A working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Power Point, and recreation software, such as ActiveNet is required
- National Lifeguard Certification and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification
- Certified in Lifesaving Society Examiners, Lifesaving Aquatic Supervisor, Lifesaving Aquatic Management, and Pool Operator are all considered an asset
- Level C Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- Ability to perform light physical demand
- Valid G Driver s License and access to a vehicle is required
- Current Police Clearance Certificate required
- IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset. Subject to course availability, certification must be achieved within the first year of employment.

**WAGE/SALARY RANGE**:$52.91 to $66.14 per hour (35 hours per week) plus benefits.
