**The Opportunity**

Our Communications & Public Affairs department is seeking to fill a permanent full-time Communications Advisor position as part of the Corporate Communications & Design team. The Communications Advisor will be responsible for supporting the communications needs of the corporation and the Recreation and Parks department.

The core responsibilities of the position include:

- Communications Planning: working collaboratively with the leadership and program staff in the partner department to develop strategic and tactical integrated marketing-communications plans, campaigns and collateral material.
- Key Messaging: working collaboratively with the leadership and program staff in the partner department, and staff in Public Affairs, to develop messaging to help manage issues that have the potential to impact the City’s reputation.
- Collaboration: working collaboratively with the leadership and program staff in the partner department to gain an understanding of department business partners’ overall business goals, marketing objectives and target audiences to support informed decision-making on the best marcom approaches.

The role requires an experienced communications generalist, and a creative and collaborative team player. The ability to balance competing priorities, a high volume of work and complex assignments is essential.

**Qualifications**
- Degree or diploma in marketing, communications or a related field.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Ability to develop strategic marketing/communications plans, undertake media relations, support issues management, and communicate during a crisis.
- Strong project management, verbal and written communication skills.
- Class 5 driver’s licence and personal vehicle for business use is required.
- Asset: Incident Command System Training (ICS)

**Hours of Work**

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks). There is a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends.

**REMOTE WORK**
This position is designated for full-time remote work; however, given the nature of the Communications Adviser project related activities, there may be a requirement to attend meetings/events at a City facility from time to time.

**Compensation**

$79,053 - $97,296 per annum. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefit package.
