Thrive Charter School is a kindergarten through grade 6 school located at 10735 McQueen Road opening in September 2023. The school is currently under renovation. Thrive is creating something special. A place where our students’ brilliant futures come into clear focus, and anything is possible.

Position Description

We're looking for an individual who can create a positive, engaging atmosphere that motivates students to have a shared passion for reading creating, critical thinking, and team building. As well as a passion for game components (i.e. chess, checkers, connect four, rubrics cubes, etc.).

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in your area of interest
- Ability to relate well with our demographic of students and their families as well as with staff
- An ethic of service to students, colleagues, and community to promote a welcoming, safe, and caring school and classroom environment
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to create positive relationships and establish rapport
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and lesson design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of student learning
- Knowledge of human behaviour and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation
- Knowledge and awareness of group behaviour and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures
- Passion for sharing the love of your interest

Police Information Clearance: Applicants new to Thrive Elementary School who are offered employment must complete and pass a police information clearance before employment is confirmed. If you have had a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check completed within the last 6 months, please submit that.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the guidance of the Program Director and in compliance with the Thrive Elementary School approved charter:

- Commitment to Thrive Elementary School’s charter, vision, mission and values.
- Establishes clear objectives and outlines for your activities that may align with the Alberta Program of Studies.
- Prepares for assigned classes and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request. Prepares materials for classroom activities, as appropriate.
- Engages students using a variety of approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus for teaching students with distinctive experiences and motivations
- Provides learning opportunities so students can see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers, and technology experts of tomorrow.
- Observes students' performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health to adhere to the safety of the students in your groups
- Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Program Director.
- Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
