Participate in community-based and collaborative research during summer and/or winter in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region to address community-driven questions related to bridging knowledge systems.
Interact with Inuvialuit community members by seeking input and feedback on project development and implementation, answering questions, presenting progress and results, and responding to community needs or concerns.

**Work environment**:
This project is focused on the Anguniaqvia Niqiqyuam Marine Protected Area (ANMPA) in the Beaufort Sea. While it is clear that climate change is already impacting the Arctic and protection efforts are underway, it is imperative to document, monitor, and understand the effects of changes across linked social and ecological systems. This highlights a need for comprehensive monitoring programs that connect people and ecosystems across the Canadian Arctic. In partnership with the Paulatuk Hunters and Trappers Committee, we will be co-developing an approach to strengthen connections between knowledge systems and ecosystems to address community-driven questions and identified scientific gaps in support of ecological monitoring efforts.

While this position is located in Toronto, it will be affiliated with the Arctic Aquatic Research Division of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), which is based at the Freshwater Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Division provides information and advice to support the management of Arctic fisheries resources, their habitat, and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and on the Yukon North Slope.
