Job Description - Project Manager

SEM is a Newfoundland and Labrador based multi-disciplinary consulting firm that has proudly served many clients in the mining and utility industries, all levels of government, and a diversity of others over the past 20 years. SEM offers Environmental, Climate Change, Geomatics, Engineering, Construction Management, and Multimedia (video + VR and training) services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Complete project scope statements;
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements;
- Set up project work orders;
- Develop realistic schedules in conjunction with the project team to complete projects;
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes of work;
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) through continuous improvement and active participation in corporate HSE processes;
- Initiate and monitor all aspects of projects to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets;
- Ensure project change requests are properly evaluated and authorized;
- Ensure all approved changes are communicated to the project team and reflected in the active project budget and schedule;
- Ensure that potential impacts of project changes from cost, schedule, safety and quality/reliability perspectives are identified and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner;
- Establish and manage project risk registers;
- Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project plans;
- Ensure that terms of agreements or commitments are understood and fully respected;
- Ensure that work packages are developed and leveraged by the project team;
- Determine insurance requirements for projects in consultation with the Risk and Insurance Division;
- Establish the necessary level of site security during project execution;
- Manage the commissioning phase of the work;
- Complete monthly capital reports and accruals;
- Ensure continuous improvement is nurtured through lessons learned sessions, supporting innovative approaches and communication to other project teams; and
- Communicate with Operations on a regular basis.

**Required qualifications**:

- 10 years or more experience in construction projects.
- 5 years previous work experience in the Hydro Electric Industry.
- Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a dynamic work environment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required as there will be some travel involved.

37.5 hr weeks

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- hydro electric: 5 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- PEGNL (preferred)

Work Location: In person
