**Position**: Controller
**Overview**: This position is responsible for day-to-day financial management, including cost accounting, forecasting, budgeting, and routine banking for three operating entities. We are looking for a finance leader to join our dynamic and established leadership team. This role will have the opportunity to build a legacy by being the financial steward and architect of a growing company and will get exposure to exciting growth projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Accurately complete the month-end financial close in a timely fashion - Prepare monthly communications that summarize plant and sales performance - Prepare quarterly board financials, dashboards and finance presentations
- Process business transactions including General Ledger, A/P, Payroll, Inventory and Fixed Assets
- File and pay all required statutory filings (WSIB, EHT, HST, etc)
- Setup new employees and perform payroll
- Ensure that all reserves, write-offs and accruals are timely and appropriate - Prepare insightful financial variance and trend analysis - Responsible for accurate inventory valuations and implementation of corrective action for variances
- Handle routine bank matters - Facilitate internal and external audit requirements, and implement all audit recommendations - Prepare all capital appropriations requests - Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Manage a team of 3 support staff, including accounting clerks and office staff
**Qualifications**:
- An accounting designation
- 5+ years accounting supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP software (ideally Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365) - Honest, ethical, detail oriented and accurate - Ability and desire to drive change for operational efficiencies (e.g. automation) - Accustomed to working in a fast paced environment - Effective communicator, both verbally and written - Team player - Experience with SRED tax credits a plus
- Experience with Advanced Analytics in ChatGPT a plus
