**Job description**:
**Position Purpose summary**:
Environmental Services Workers are responsible for the overall cleanliness and upkeep of ARC buildings and/or grounds, ensuring that services are delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds Health & Safety Standards, funder/contract expectations, demonstrates respect for all individuals, achieves the goal of providing a home-like environment and evidences Christian values.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- General housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, the following: sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning all washrooms and washroom fixtures, cleaning walls, doors, floors, ceilings, windows, light fixtures, storage areas and bins, changing linens and processing dirty linens, stocking linen and supply areas, removal of garbage and processing of recycling.
- Ensuring that a high level of cleanliness and sanitary standards are achieved and maintained in all areas of the Edmonton Centre of Hope facilities
- Carrying out infestation control procedures as required
- Restocking washroom supplies and distributing received material as required
- Ensuring proper storage, labeling and care of cleaning equipment and supplies
- Laundry duties as required
- Following procedures, checklists, receiving instruction
- All other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Education requirements**:

- *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation._

**Education/Certifications**:

- High School graduate required
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement

**Experience**:

- 3 months to 1 year prior related experience
- General familiarity with cleaning procedures in an organizational setting
- Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture and values

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Good communication skills - both written and verbal
- Be able to work well in a team setting
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching
- Have the ability to use floor machine equipment efficiently
- Reliability and punctuality are essential
- Be able to give attention to detail
