MacEwan University seeks casual Event Assistants for our Conference & Event Services Department. You will be responsible for the set-up, take-down and on-site support for internal and external events coordinated by Conference and Event Services.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- On-site monitoring of university events and external groups holding their events or activities at the university (i.e. conferences, meetings, courses, professional development, performances, special events).
- Monitor event set-ups, deliveries, and service requirements prior to and during events.
- Provide access to theatre and performance spaces for clients and participants.
- Execute opening and closing procedures for audiences in theatre and performance spaces.
- Meeting and greeting clients, acting as the point of contact for the client and guests and ensuring all aspects of the event or activity are running smoothly and as per the event plan.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to present professionally, businesslike, courteously and helpfully.
- Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals and groups Enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible.
- Ability to take the initiative and responsibility for assigned tasks and complete them independently.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school graduation and general courses or training of short duration.
- A minimum of one year working in a hospitality or events-related environment is desirable.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Interest in the events and/or arts industries
- Experience in a customer service-oriented position.
- Ability to work flexible and varied hours based on client and event requirements.
- Ability to work mainly evenings and weekends.
- Existing knowledge of the university, including the layout of the buildings, is considered an asset.
- Able and willing to move boxes, signs, decor and event supplies as required.
