**Responsibilities**
- Ensure accurate, timely financial statements and compliance with IFRS accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
- Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Facilitate external audits, collaborate with auditors, and implement recommendations for improvements.
- Manage tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure timely, accurate filing of tax returns.
- Oversee the AP function, manage cash disbursements, and collaborate with the procurement team.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, promoting continuous improvement and open communication.
- Conduct financial analysis to support management decisions and identify cost savings and business growth opportunities.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain accounting and financial systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to ensure effective use of technology in the finance and accounting department.

**Requirements**:
**Your skills and experience**
- CPA designated.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior accounting or financial management role within a medium to large organization. Public company experience is an asset.
- Audit experience, preferably from a public accounting firm, demonstrating strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of internal controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems. Familiarity with any of the following systems is a plus: Great Plains, Management Reporter, Power Query/Power BI, or Vena Solutions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
- Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
