**Job Description**:
The Child and Youth Counsellor will be a part of the multidisciplinary team that offers urgent care intervention and is part of a multidisciplinary team supporting children and youth who have complex needs (including mental health issues and developmental disabilities).

RESPONSIBILITIES- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care for Program Patients and families across Eastern Ontario areas.-
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team-
- Develop programming and activities for the inpatient unit and day treatment programs-
- Offer support /counselling to individual patients and their families-
- Provide appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family-
- Offer mentoring experiences for students and new staff members.-
- Perform other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)-
- Graduate of a three-year community college program in Child and Youth Counselling (Essential)-
- Eligible for certified membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) (Essential)-
- Experience in pediatric psychiatry (Essential)-
- Experience working with children/youth presenting with developmental disabilities/ASD (preferred)-
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (Essential)-
- Knowledge of mental health treatment modalities (Essential)-
- Demonstrated skills in facilitating both group setting and individual support using Mental Health techniques and strategies (Essential)-
- Demonstrated skill in Crisis intervention and De-escalation and willingness to maintain industry standard Mental Health competencies (which includes training and possible certifications) (Essential)-
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students and new staff (Essential)-
- Demonstrated excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills (Essential)-
- Bilingualism (French and English) (preferred)OTHERS- Travel throughout Eastern Ontario is required.-
- Evening and weekend work is expected.-

DESCRIPTION DU TRAVAIL- Concevoir, planifier, mettre en œuvre et évaluer les soins fournis aux patients de l’unité et à leurs familles;-
- Participer au travail d’une équipe interdisciplinaire;-
- Élaborer des programmes et des activités pour l’Unité des patients hospitalisés et au programme de traitement de jour;-
- Offrir du soutien et des conseils à chaque patient et à sa famille;-
- Fournir des expériences d’apprentissage adéquates au patient et à sa famille;-
- Offrir du mentorat aux étudiants et aux nouveaux employés.QUALIFICATIONS- Vérification des antécédents en vue d’un travail auprès de personnes vulnérables (Essentiel)-
- Certificat d’un programme collégial de trois ans en counseling d’enfants et de jeunes (Essentiel)-
- Admissibilité à une adhésion à l’Association ontarienne des conseillers à l’enfance et à la jeunesse (AOCEJ) (Essentiel)-
- Expérience en psychiatrie pédiatrique (Essentiel)-
- Certification en RCR et en premiers soins (Essentiel)-
- Connaissance des modalités de traitement des troubles de santé mentale (Essentiel)-
- Compétences démontrées de l’animation de groupes en santé mentale pour les jeunes (Essentiel)-
- Compétence démontrée en intervention et en désescalade lors de crises (Essentiel)-
- Engagement démontré de l’encadrement de stagiaires et de nouveaux employés (Essentiel)-
