**Receptionist**

**What you’ll do**
- Act as a receptionist greets patients, clients, visitors and directs them to appropriate areas. Provides information services; responds to requests for information, such as location of facilities and personnel, telephone numbers and general information or refers to others. Maintains lists, staff directories and tidiness of reception area.
- Operate a switchboard to answer incoming calls; obtains/provides information, transfers to the appropriate department/area, takes/relays messages and/or pages as required. Respond to emergency signals in accordance with established codes and procedures.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail; receives, open and date stamps incoming mail, packages, sort and distribute, prepare outgoing mail, sign courier receipts and send/receive faxes.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintains files and office supplies, schedule appointments and book meeting rooms, as required. Perform general word processing and data entry functions; input information into computerized systems, prepare correspondence and reports. Complete forms.
- Operate a variety of office equipment and carries out minor maintenance functions such as loading paper and removing jams and/or contacts others for repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12, Medical Office Assistant certificate, plus six (6) months recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You will also have
- Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Ability to type 30 w.p.m.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Computer skills; able to operate a computerized client care information system, word processing and spreadsheet software
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

**Wage**:$22.32 - $23.83/hour
