Timmins, Canada Living Space Full time

**Hours**: 40 hours/week
**Location**: 316 Spruce Street South, Timmins ON

**Position Summary**:
The position works closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Living Space programs. The position leads the development and day-to-day operation of the following Living Space programs:

- Housing Focused Diversion & Referrals
- Emergency Low-Barrier Shelter program
- Drop In program
- Client Case Management

**Requirements**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or a combination of relevant education with experience in mental health and addictions, social service work, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisor/lead role with proven strong leadership attributes.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers would be an asset.
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts when coverage is needed; days, afternoons, weekday/weekend, and on call shifts on rotation.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook and the internet.
- Experience with electronic reporting and case notes is considered an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality effectively with the ability to work within professional and ethical guidelines.
- The ability to engage and work with a broad range of clients with diverse and complex issues.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills including strong clinical judgement and conflict resolution skills.
- Crisis Intervention skills. Ability to remain calm and flexible under stress.
- Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness, as well as the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health.
- Good communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff within and outside the organization.
- Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
- Any additional training certificates are considered an asset: CPI, ASIST.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check is required.
- Living Space has a Vaccination Policy that requires employees to take part in COVID-19 vaccination programs recommended by Public Health and provide an up-to-date TB screening record.

**Core Competencies**:

- Experience advocating for marginalized and complex clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, substance use, and mental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in community settings with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a wide range of high-quality written materials. This includes but not limited to case notes, shift logs, incident reports, legal documents, and electronic documentation.
- Proven effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated strong sense of initiative, personal accountability, and dependability.
- Familiarity with community partners and the programs they offer.

**Specific Duties**:

- Supervise and monitor shelter front-line program workers.
- Participate in case management. Client load will vary depending on work duties.
- Assisting the Operations Manager with on-call rotation which includes scheduling and monitoring absences.
- Supporting and leading orientation and training of new employees.
- Oversee and follow up on client program restrictions.
- Ensuring Living Space standards are adhered to by Program Workers and clients in all areas.
- Provide coverage to Program Workers when required.
