Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team. As a Family Support Worker, you will provide assistance and support to individuals in need, helping them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Position Description

Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead, you will be responsible to provide direct support to children and families, as needed by the family to enhance their overall wellbeing. You will strive to foster healthy relationships with the children and families in order to assist them in succeeding and reaching their goals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support youths by way of mentoring, coaching and teaching to parent independently and meet the needs of their children;
- Work with children/youth to problems solve, manage conflict, maintain appropriate boundaries and expectations;
- Support families to access cultural activities and ceremonies if requested.
- Be a healthy role model and a source of guidance for the development of the children and youth and daily life and social skills.

Interact with the youth through shared activities based on their developmental needs and interest.

Support youth in finding and participating in volunteer work.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, youth, staff, parents, and guardians.
- Use nurturing and strength-based language to support positive self-identity.
- Assist children and youth in building emotional intelligence through supporting and guiding behaviours with a nurturing approach.
- Complete necessary paper work/documentation; incident reports, invoices etc.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 education required. A college or university education is preferred, experience working with children, at-risk youth and families plus training, education, and experience in the helping field.

Knowledge of Addictions and Trauma and the effect it has on families.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Experience working with families in a supportive manner;
- Experience working with youth with a mental health diagnosis
- Experience working with youth with substance use
- Experience working with vulnerable children and youth with an array of behavioral needs

Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed care;
Good communication, organization, problem solving and team skills **Current First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Mental Health First Aid, and ASSIT is an asset.**
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills
- Strong organized and time management skills are a must to work with multiple families.
- Must have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment.
- **Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is a requirement for this position**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
