**Position Summary**

- Reporting to the Snowmaking and Grooming Supervisor, the snowmaker ensures the snowmaking equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff. The Snowmaker is responsible for upkeep on machines, hydrants and lines, maintenance, and snow creation across the mountain. and well-maintained terrain and great service.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Operate snowmaking and related equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Maintain daily snowmaking log
- Perform pre
- and post-operation checks
- Perform daily light maintenance on equipment (topping up fluids, cleaning interior and exterior, greasing, and fueling of machine as needed)
- Layout, connect and charge hoses (setup)
- Discharge, disconnect, thaw and drain hoses (teardown)
- Activate and deactivate snowmaking pump
- Recognize and report any potential hazards to the Maintenance as appropriate and assist in emergency situations
- Recognize and report any unusual situations (unusual noises, poor production quality, etc.)
- Provide assistance to maintenance staff and assist with other general duties as assigned
- Perform snow removal and snow farming (including snowmaking and snow fencing)
- Monitor and adjust snow gun as required
- Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
- Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
- Maintain required records, reports and documentation necessary as part of the due diligence process
- Test the quality of snow as it is made, reporting findings and conditions to the supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned while waiting for optimum snowmaking weather
- Work closely with and assist other departments such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations
- Drive snowmobiles, side by side and trucks in a safe manner as necessary
- Work evening and night schedules when optimal temperatures provide for the best snowmaking

**Knowledge, Abilities and Skills**
- Knowledge of ski area operations
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic operations and maintenance of equipment
- Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski / snowboarding terrain needs
- Previous experience with Snowmaking or terrain building an asset
- Requires physical aptitude to safety negotiate outdoor winter travel on snow and ice
- Ability to safely operate snowmobiles and other equipment according to Pass Powderkeg procedures and training

**Required Education and Experience**

This position requires the following minimum qualifications:

- Valid Driver’s License
