**Payroll Specialist - 6-month contract**

We have an exciting opportunity for a 6-month contract position as a
**What will you do?**
Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the daily management of accurate, timely and confidential preparation and processing of CFIB’s bi-weekly payroll and assist in the preparation of all month end and year end related reporting.
**Responsibilities**:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations regarding payroll taxes
- Maintaining employee data, processing new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in salary, allowances and benefits, preparation of ROEs, and benefit administration
- Prepare and issue payroll remittances e.g. garnishment, RRSP, etc.
- Complete posting and reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts
- Track and reconcile employee time off such as vacation days, sick days, unpaid days and other leaves and ensure that time off requests are processed in accordance with CFIB policies
- Maintain employee payroll records and documentation of payroll processes
- Complete year end payroll functions which include processing T4’s, and year-end requirements
- Other duties as assigned
**What makes a successful Payroll Specialist?**
- Post secondary education with some formal payroll education, PCP preferred
- Minimum 3+ years of payroll related work experience
- Previous experience with payroll/HRIS systems, knowledge of Payworks/Ceridian is considered asset
- High level of expertise in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Teams
- Strong organizational and reporting skills
- Ability to work well within a team, multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure
- Proven high degree of accuracy, speed and attention to detail are required
- Quick learner with ability to pick up new technologies/skills and business knowledge
- Well organized and work within timelines effectively providing high levels of efficiency and productivity
- Handles confidential and proprietary design and security information
- Excellent English communications skills (both written and verbal), knowledge of French is an asset
