**Who We Are**

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

**What We Do**

The Library & Knowledge Services department is a part of the Human Resources and Corporate Services Branch and is comprised of Human Resources, Administration, Knowledge Services, Records and Information Management, and Strategic Planning and Reporting. The mandate of the Branch is to ensure the responsible stewardship of OSC resources, contribute to enterprise-wide workforce productivity, and lead the design and implementation of a positive employee experience.

**The Opportunity**

The Knowledge Services Summer Student will provide support to the department in areas such as research, media monitoring, knowledge management, increasing the usability of information through the creation of products and tools, and the design/delivery of training.

You will be asked to take on specific, mutually agreed upon projects. These may include working on our Intranet, creating new research guides, increasing user engagement, expanding on our current media monitoring program or doing a needs analysis for new tools or services as examples.

**What do you need to be successful in this role?**
- Must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary program
Preference will be given to those students enrolled in a library or information studies, or who have taken a post-secondary course in library studies
- Completed basic courses in online information retrieval, user design experience, legal, or business research are considered an asset.
- Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized with a high degree of accuracy, have an ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines with effective time management skills.
- A self-starter with a willingness to learn, who can work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and judgment capabilities.
- Customer service, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
