- BHP is one of the largest and most technologically advanced mining companies in the world. Innovation is at our core. Our people engage with some of the world's best technologies to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges. The future is clear at BHP: we are innovating to create a cleaner and greener future, sustainably delivering the future facing commodities the world needs to achieve the energy transition. To do this, we need our people to challenge the status quo and push the limits of what is possible - we need the dreamers, the innovators and the challengers.- This role sits within our Innovation Team, who are intrinsic in ensuring we are on the cusp of driving our technology and innovation projects towards the future we want to have - making us a greener, safer, successful and more sustainable organization.- We are building a team with experience across the mining value chain, from exploration and resource characterization to mining, processing and tailings and water treatment. While experience in these areas is a prerequisite, we are particularly looking for people who can reimagine the mining value chain, challenging the status quo and constantly asking “what if?”
Within this team we aim to future-proof the mining industry through leveraging and de-risking emerging technologies to solve for known Asset challenges, enabling us deliver value today as we ambitiously reimage the mining operating model of tomorrow, positioning BHP as a leader in mining innovation.**Purpose**
- As part of BHP’s Global Innovation team, known as TAD (Think and Act Differently), you will collaborate with the Potash asset and other functional teams to future-proof the mining industry through alignment of emerging technologies to solve for Asset challenges and to unlock the resources of tomorrow. Locally, you will be part of a small business partnering team working in close partnership with our Potash asset and the broader BHP business, including other innovation sub-teams, deeply integrating across all levels of the organization, providing the necessary management to take ideas from concept to implementation. You will be responsible for taking innovation ideas and finding ways to develop, refine, and improve them so they are ready for implementation, resulting in significant value to BHP.**About the Role**
In this role, you will:
- Work with the TAD ecosystem, internal teams and external collaborators to identify innovative solutions, develop business case for opportunities and create strategy for implementation, including developing methods to test and refine technology.
- Utilize appropriate simulation packages to create mass and energy balances and validate process simulation outputs to optimize the representations of real operational processes, providing innovative solutions ready for the delivery team to implement.
- Define value drivers and determine the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment. Make evidence-based and strategic decisions that meet the asset requirements and unlocks future growth options across the short-, medium
