JRN 201

An introduction to short-form broadcast and multimedia journalism. Students will write, film, and edit multimedia news content focused on daily events and issues of public importance. They will be exposed to expectations of professional newsrooms with an emphasis on daily deadlines, news judgement, and multitasking across platforms.

Position Requirements

Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor of Journalism degree or equivalent in a related discipline. A Master of Journalism degree is preferred. **Preference **will be given to applicants with demonstrated effectiveness in journalism studies, recent and relevant professional experience, and those with practical experience or knowledge in broadcast, print and multimedia.

The School of Journalism defines “recent and relevant professional experience” as working experience in the field of journalism within the last four years, and a minimum of three years of professional experience in the specific medium or method applicable to the course.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of journalistic practices and a demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm for teaching.

9:30 am - 12:15 pm | JRN 201-001 Wednesdays

3:00 pm - 3:50 pm JRN 201-002 LAB Wednesdays
