**Family Service Kent is growing and requires a Full-Time Mental Health Counsellor**

Workers for a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent position. The Full Time Mental
Health / Clinical Counsellor will provide direct therapeutic intervention to clients including individuals, couples, and families, and Counselling Services Programs (i.e. Sexual Assault
Survivors group, and other groups as available). Intervention includes assessment, short
- term or longer ongoing therapy with commensurate recording of therapeutic sessions according to recording guidelines. This intervention may also involve contact with other involved agencies (with proper release of information documentation) for the purposes of consultation and avoidance of service duplication. This position reports to the Clinical
Manager / Manager of Counselling Services at Family Service Kent.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide mental health counselling to individuals, couples, families, and groups
- Evaluate client needs and collaboratively develop goals and strategies to achieve client objectives.
- Implement effective clinical interventions using a variety of evidenced based treatment modalities
- Participate in allowing clinical students to shadow sessions with client permission
- Work both independently and collaboratively as a part of a highly skilled and professional team
- Maintain sound clinical judgement, uphold ethical standards, and remain committed to professional development
- Maintain administrative duties in accordance with agency and college standards
- Participate in supervision, peer supervision and case discussion meetings regularly

**Minimum requirements**:

- Master of Social Work Degree or equivalent
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (RSW) or eligibility to be registered, or registration through an equivalent governing body
- Experience providing strength-based counselling to individuals, couples, families, and groups
- Trained to provide counselling for individuals experiencing elevated trauma and asset if trained in EMDR / complex trauma therapeutic modalities

**Skills/Competencies**:

- Superior interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills (oral and written)
- Strong administrative, organizational, time management and teamwork skills
- Resourcefulness and the ability to take initiative
- Proven flexibility and adaptability working in a fast-paced environment, independently and as a member of a team
- Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products and computer skills in general
- Ability to communicate in French would be viewed as an asset
- Experience in the EAP industry, working with children, LGBTQ2S+ community, and Indigenous individuals would be assets

Opportunity to provide both in person counselling and video or phone services from the office. This job is completed in the office, unless working from home is required and approved by the Clinical Manager and / or Executive Director.
