Safety Analyst

We are looking for a Safety Analyst to join our team to Provide assured safety analysis and licensing services needed to support facilities and projects within Environmental Remediation Management (ERM). Does the idea of developing and implementing licensing strategies for securing regulatory approvals for projects, new facilities, modifications to existing facilities, and decommissioning appeal to you? Do you have an interest in prepare & update facility safety documentation, including deterministic and probabilistic safety analysis, criticality analysis, shielding analysis and radiological consequence analysis? **What you will be doing**
- Preparing high quality technical document which receive a high level of scrutiny
- Acting as a technical reviewer for safety analysis documents
- Following the program and associated CNSC regulations in preparing the documentation
- Providing guidance to Facility Authority/Projects with regards to safety and licencing requirements
- Reviewing technical drawings/documents with a focus on impact to safety
- Preparing documentation to support projects/changes including planning, safety analysis and guidance
- Ensuring documents prepared are in compliance with the program
- Supporting developing program documentation though document preparation, self-assessments, etc.
- Being involved with REGDOC, CSA, IAEA, ICRP and other agency updates that involve safety analysis
- Engaging with projects/facilities to identify hazards
- Participating in hazard analysis meetings and document the outcomes
- Using various tools to estimate the potential doses from events to workers, on-site and public
- Using various tools to estimate frequency of events to classify likelihood of occurrence
- Modelling short term and long term releases from facilities
- Verifying other analysts calculations
**What we are looking for**:
- At minimum, a Bachelors (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization
- Scientific working experience is an asset
- Working knowledge in one of the following areas is an asset:
- Regulatory framework governing Canadian nuclear industry
- Licensing requirements for nuclear facilities
- Safety requirements for nuclear facilities
- Design engineering process
- Nuclear facility operations
- Decommissioning
- Radiological protection
- Hazard assessment techniques including HAZOP
- Deterministic safety analysis methods
- Probabilistic safety assessments
- General knowledge of procurement and financial processes. General knowledge of business and management principles involved in work planning, budgeting and resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of resources.
- Ability to organize routine and complex work and activities of a moderate number of resources to accomplish deliverables in accordance with expectations.
**Security clearance eligibility require**d: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
