Manager, Outpatient Services

**ROLE**
As the Manager, Outpatient Services & Infection Prevention & Control is responsible for improving patient quality and safety across Muskoka Algonquin Health Care.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with referring healthcare providers and partners to ensure quality continuum of care.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets; submit monthly financial reports and explanations of variances.
- Facilitate the identification, implementation, and monitoring of continuous improvement initiatives related to key operational processes.
- Ensure excellence in patient care and service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes that include planning, quality monitoring and risk avoidance.
- Support hospital Quality Improvement projects, identify risk management issues, and use results to implement change.
**Outpatient Services Responsibilities**:
- Provide daily operational support in coordination of referrals and bed management.
- Provide operational support for Outpatient Services with a focus on implementing new processes, continuously improving on established processes (e.g. referrals, intakes, scheduling), and improving communications.
- Participate in program development and assist in the development of new business opportunities related to Outpatient Services.
- Conduct quality care audits and ensure that quality care standards are met (e.g. Accreditation Canada’s Ambulatory Care standards).
- Analyze and report on referral data reports and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Promote awareness of evidence based/best practices in relation to patient safety.
**IPAC Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate the development and ongoing evaluation of the hospital’s infection surveillance program.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators both internally and externally. Establishes targets and develops and implements mitigation strategies/action plans to ensure that targets are met.
- Provide IPAC expertise in the hospital’s response to new emerging infectious disease.
- Lead the IPAC team and advise hospital leadership during outbreak management.
- Provides direction related to IPAC and patient safety strategies and risk assessment using the principles of epidemiology, to all facility departments and programs and our community and regional partners.
- Ensure IPAC policies and procedures are based on current scientific literature, guidelines and standards.
- Chair IPAC & MDRD Committee meetings.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)**
- Regulated Health Professional in good standing with the associated professional Ontario body (example. College of Nurses of Ontario, College of Medical Lab Technologists).
- Bachelor’s degree in a health related field.
- Membership in local and national Infection Prevention and Control Associations.
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)**
- Two years relevant experience within a health related setting.
- Minimum two years of “hands on” experience in Infection Prevention and Control and/or Outpatient Services roles (or both), in a Healthcare Setting.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge in coaching, training, recruiting of team members.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate scheduling and manage inventories.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently prioritize and multitask.
- Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism and confidentiality.
