**Primary Duties**

Reporting to the Supervisor of Inspection and Support, and as part of the Utilities Kingston Engineering Department, the AutoCAD Technician will be responsible for the creation, organization and updating of paper and electronic records associated with Utilities Kingston facility and linear assets. The incumbent will create original records/drawings, update existing drawings and plans, and maintain all record drawing information relating to facilities and linear assets (plants, stations, watermains, etc). Your interpersonal skills will enable you to establish processes to obtain and organize records necessary for updating and to share current records with end users, and work in conjunction with operational departments to provide timely and current drawing records. Your knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems will enable you to effectively communicate drawing information to staff. There is also intent with this position to aid in the creation and maintenance of our own drafting standard to utilize throughout Utilities Kingston. Responsibilities will include: the creation of single line diagrams for electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems or equipment, verification of accuracy of drawings, establishment of processes and systems to obtain data, update and organize records, verification of changes and publication and create 3D modeling of systems. The incumbent will undertake other assigned duties as required.

**Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required**
- As a minimum, a 2-year Diploma from an accredited community college in an Engineering Technician field, preferably in the mechanical or electrical engineering field or another related program of study.
- A minimum of 2 years of practical hands
- on experience in drafting/mapping, including experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of Products and AutoCAD.
- Experience with the creation and maintenance of drafting standards
- Familiarity with ESRI, FME and SharePoint is preferred
- Strong organizational skill for the creation and maintenance of drafting record management
- A class “G” Driver’s license for Ontario is required.
- Knowledge of facility electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of and understanding of utilities infrastructures will be preferred.
- Attention to detail and accuracy of work is important. Ability to work independently with minimum direction coupled with outstanding organization skills.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written and superior consultation and interpersonal skills required to liaise with operations staff is required to successfully complete required tasks.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities

**Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment**
- A valid Class “G” driver’s license is a Condition of Employment.
