Reporting to the Manager, Public Works Support Services, the Supervisor, Fleet Services will assist with the management of the City's fleet and to establish comprehensive objectives and strategies for the implementation of procurement, maintenance and life cycle replacement programs. You will provide strong leadership and expert guidance to staff by following the City's core values of Care, Collaboration, Courage, and Service. Under management direction, you will provide supervision, and co-ordinate daily department activities.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day in house repairs and maintenance performed by Fleet Mechanics
- Coordinate and monitor the outsourcing of repairs performed by various vendors
- Organize and prioritize repairs and maintenance of equipment to meet seasonal requirements
- Liaise with other departments to ensure equipment readiness
- Assist the Manager, Public Works Support Services with technical specifications for tenders when required
- Coordinate inspection of new vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with tender specs
- Maintain City’s on-site fuel system and check and maintain fuel inventories
- Oversee maintenance and repairs of the mechanical fuel system and Electronic fuel system
- Monitor and maintain all staff fuel access privileges
- Oversee central stock room as needed
- Distribute and order CUPE clothing as needed
- Provide supervision to staff including overseeing all Health and Safety related issues, performance reviews, standby schedules, mechanic apprenticeship program, staff training, equipment safety summaries, CVOR annuals, and payroll approval

**Education and Experience**:

- Diploma in Auto Mechanics or related discipline
- Automotive Service Technician (310S) and Truck Coach Technician (310T) is required
- 5 years' experience in a unionized supervision role, preferably in fleet supervision

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Experience maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment
- Experience with on-board vehicle computerized systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment
- Thorough knowledge of and understanding of relevant legislation, acts, codes, and regulations
- Team player focus with excellent problem solving, organizational, time management skills, and the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Regular exposure to mechanic environment and outdoor conditions
- Manages organizational change through strong leadership and communication skills
