**Job Title**: Assistant Museum Curator

**Salary**: $15.50 per hour for 30 hrs/weekly for 8 weeks

**Job Summary**

**On-Site Duties and Responsibilities**
- Meet and greet the visiting public, including groups, in a friendly and professional manner
- Conduct tours of the Museum for visitors
- Perform transactions in the Gift Shop using both cash register and credit/debit reader
- Perform environmental checks of the Museum twice daily and maintain data loggers
- Assist Collections Manager/Curator with researching, planning, and execution of exhibits and programming
- Assist Collections Manager/Curator with collections management, including artifact cataloguing, storage, and display
- Assist Collections Manager/Curator with managing the Museum social media platforms
- Assist Collections Manager/Curator with creating newsletter content
- Perform basic maintenance of Museum and grounds
- Work with and assist the ELMC as needed
- Any other tasks as requested by the Collections Manager/Curator

**Qualifications and Eligibility**
- The successful applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_ for the duration of the employment; and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- The successful applicant must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Cheque
- Enrollment/experience in a related field is an asset: e.g. History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Museum Studies, Library and Information Sciences

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Must have a keen interest in history
- Strong research skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with PastPerfect is an asset
- Experience working with the public is an asset
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Adaptable and flexible, and able to reprioritize on short notice to meet the needs of the Museum
- Able to work flexible hours on occasion depending on the needs of special events
- Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask
