About Musqueam
**Position Summary**:
This position is a Temporary Part time role, effective April 2023- September 2023 (25 weeks)
In keeping with the values of the Land Based Healing program we are seeking a garden coordinator to facilitate planting and farming at the Musqueam Farm at UBC.
The Garden Coordinator honors local strengths and resources and helps build the skills of gardening with community members. This program targets cultural values and life skills within the community.
It is meant to foster ongoing connection to the traditional territory
**Principal Duties**:
Organize and participate in physical work at the garden, planting, weeding, harvesting
Deliver produce to membership
Source and plant traditional medicines to be made available to Musqueam members
Incorporating Musqueam volunteers
Write newsletters and community notices regarding the garden
Works closely with UBC Indigenous Students who are participating in education at the adjacent xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden let by Eduardo Jovel.
Incorporates Musqueam language into resources at the garden
Work with Land Based Healing coordinator to develop programs at the garden for community members ie. Elders, youth, daycare.
**Job Requirements**:
- Ability to organize and plan own work
- Ability to be flexible and meet changing priorities
- Good verbal and written skills
- Strong ability to collaborate with others and work well in a team
- Understanding of horticulture and plantings specific to zone 8
- Physically ability complete tasks of gardening
