Join an award-winning journalism team making a difference in Canada’s North. Nunatsiaq News is the newspaper of record for the Eastern Arctic. Serving 39 communities with its website and print edition, Nunatsiaq News continues to grow its readership, web visits and advertising. We provide credible, in-depth and award-winning journalism, which together with lively website comments, draws readers from the North, southern Canada and around the world.
- We have an immediate opening for a determined journalist who is hungry to break the news that affects our readers by cutting through official silence.

We cover ground-breaking developments in government, culture, language and society.
Salary commensurate with experience.
- This position should appeal to either a newsroom veteran looking for a new challenge by putting her or his skills to work in a demanding environment, or to a young reporter eager to gain experience quickly.

- Reporting to the Managing Editor, you would:
File at least five news stories per week, as well as news briefs as required and at least one feature every two weeks.
- Provide or source two standalone photos for publication each week.
- Develop sources, generate new story ideas and participate in story meetings.
- Assist in broadening the editorial content of Nunatsiaq News to encourage a greater readership.
- Travel to Nunavut and Nunavik communities to report on special events as required.
- Attend after-hours meetings and events as required.
- Ensure that stories are filed on deadline and accompanied by a photo.
- Assist with proofreading dummy newspaper pages.
- Do other related duties as assigned by the editors.
**Qualifications**
