The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications professional for the position of Communications Manager.

**What is the Role**

The Manager, Communications is responsible for leading the communications unit and providing guidance and oversight to the team on all Federation communications, including implementation of strategic plans set by senior management. This position designs, develops and manages the Unit’s processes and role in order to serve all Federation business units in a manner that is consistent with organizational priorities.

**What You Will Do**
- Strategically acquire and deploy resources to support the unit’s work.
- Negotiate and develop service delivery contracts with external partners and agencies.
- Manage and resolve competing priorities and purposes with various stakeholders, including colleagues, senior leadership and external audiences.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure organizational objectives are met using a high level of collaboration and coordination with other shared service units.
- Lead the team by supporting a broad scope of writing and storytelling, ensuring communications are accurate, sharp and succinct.
- Lead and support the development and execution of proactive and reactive strategies, in consultation with the Managing Director, to manage reputational risk and achieve organizational goals.
- Manage the creation and implementation of integrated communications and marketing plans for various audiences, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and public relations plans.
- With guidance from the senior manager, develop the Federation’s strategic plan in support of the Federation’s vision, mission and identified priorities.
- Lead the communications unit in the implementation and measurement of public advocacy, marketing and communications initiatives.
- Provide a full range of content strategies, services, channels and tools to be used by the Federation and its work units.
- Provide communications recommendations to support the STF Executive Director, STF President and STF Executive through key messaging, letter writing, and media coordination and implementation.
- Work in partnership with the Manager, Design and Production to ensure the website, intranet and other digital services support the goals and objectives of communication plans.

**What You Will Bring**
- An undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of seven years of experience in a progressively responsible role related to the implementation of marketing and communication plans and projects.
- A demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff and manage a work unit.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in the marketing and/or communications field.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively work with employees and oversee projects.
- Ability to research and analyze complex issues and provide advice and recommendations regarding communication strategies.
- Ability to carry out responsibilities autonomously yet interdependently.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Experience and knowledge of social media tools and strategies.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to recognize sensitive situations and act appropriately.
- Strong relationship-building skills.

**What You Can Expect**

We offer a salary range of $87,958 - $114,301, a 35-hour work week plus a full range of benefits, including extended health care; retirement plan; group life insurance; sick leave; long-term disability and paid leave to deal with family, health and sickness and compassionate situations.
