Accounting Clerk/bookkeeper

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Bookkeeping and Data Entry**:
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Enter data into accounting software or spreadsheets and ensure all records are up-to-date and accurate.
**Accounts Payable and Receivable**:
- Process and verify accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Prepare and issue invoices to customers and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile vendor invoices and payments and resolve discrepancies.
**Bank Reconciliation**:
- Monthly and year-end account reconciliation (bank statements, credit card statements, etc.).
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
**Payroll Support**:
- Assist in processing payroll, including verifying employee hours, calculating wages, and maintaining payroll records.
- Ensure tax deductions and other statutory payments are accurately processed.
**Financial Reporting**:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Support the senior accounting team with any financial analysis or reporting needs.
**General Ledger Maintenance**:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries for various financial transactions.
- Ensure proper categorization and documentation of transactions in compliance with accounting standards.
**Tax Preparation Support**:
- Assist in preparing documents and reports required for tax filings.
- Ensure all financial transactions are compliant with local, state, and federal tax laws.
**Record Keeping and Filing**:
- Organize and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for easy access.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding document retention.
**Audit Support**:
- Provide support during internal and external audits by supplying requested financial documents and records.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and ensuring accuracy in all financial data.
**Customer and Vendor Communication**:
- Communicate with customers and vendors regarding invoicing, payments, and other financial matters.
- Resolve any billing issues or discrepancies as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
- **Experience**:
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel) and basic accounting principles.
- **Skills**:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic knowledge of financial regulations and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and other office tools.
**Working Conditions**:
- This is a **part-time** position, with flexible hours.
- Typically works in an office environment during regular business hours.

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
