Job Summary:
**Responsibilities**:
1. Patient Interaction:
- Greet and assist patients in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Schedule appointments and manage the patient appointment calendar.
- Collect and update patient information, including medical history and insurance details.
2. Clinical Tasks:
- Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and labeling of collected specimens.
- Assist healthcare providers with basic clinical procedures as needed.
3. Administrative Duties:
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients.
- Maintain patient records and enter information into the electronic health records (EHR) system accurately.
4. Data Entry:
- Enter and update patient information, medical history, and treatment plans into the computerized system.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper filing systems.
5. Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, including physicians and nurses.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program is preferred.
- Certification in phlebotomy is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of Canadian experience as a medical office assistant or in a similar role.
- Proven experience in clinical tasks and administrative duties.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
