OVERVIEW

The Fund Development Lead will provide support and leadership to assess and streamline
our fundraising infrastructure and increase our visibility within the community. Reporting to
the Director of Strategy, Quality & Organizational Excellence within the Canadian Mental
Health Association Durham (CMHA Durham), in collaboration with the Communications and
Public Relations Lead, the incumbent builds positive relationships with future donors and
sponsors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Lead the development of a fundraising plan/ framework (inclusive of a donor

stewardship framework)
- Conduct a review of CMHA Durham’s fund development practices
- Develop action plans to address gaps and ensures timelines and goals are met
- Source available fundraising/donor management system and/or software
- Develop key performance indicators/measures
- Develop policies, guidelines, and implementation plan
- Execute the plan including, but not limited to:

- Development of framework and communication plan
- Education and training provided to select employees impacted by framework

and processes
- Select and implement fundraising software database
- Evaluation and recommendations report(s)
- Participates as a member of a high-performance team
- Cultivate strong relationships with existing donors/partners while identifying, soliciting

and stewarding prospective donors
- Other duties as assigned by management

SKILLS
- Post-secondary education and a minimum of five years fundraising experience,

preferably in the health care sector

Additional training or certification in fundraising, donor engagement or fundraising

software are assets

Experience within a community based not for profit environment is considered an

asset
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

and database management

- Past experience with a variety of fundraising software/events is an asset
- Strong ability to work independently and pro-actively with mínimal direction
- Ability to manage multiple projects for various stakeholders
- Ability to anticipate needs and prioritize competing priorities efficiently
- Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds

EFFORT
- Sits at desk, stands and walks daily to perform the duties of the job
- Concentration, attentiveness, and creativity required daily to answer inquiries, format

documents, prepare documents, listen to staff and colleagues, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in an office environment
- Exposure to distractions, interruptions and deadlines
- Little exposure to potential hazards
