**Field Manager, Stations - Burrard**

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Burrard SC Station

Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident

Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00

**What you'll do**
- Supervises and gives technical direction to several employees (consisting of 13 GPO's, 7 maintenance staff and some

contract labor) engaged in the operation of a Synchronous Condenser Station including Generators, Exciters, Auxiliary
Equipment including water treatment, and switching of electrical equipment in the plant and switchyard.
- Provides a rotation of “Standby” coverage on off hours and weekends.
- Maintains liaison with System Control Managers at FVO regarding plant loading and outage scheduling.
- Continually monitors condition and safety of plant equipment and takes corrective action to resolve problems and institutes

remedial measures as appropriate.
- Advises Manager, Plant Operations and others of problems and recommends remedial measures if required.
- Assists with maintenance scheduling and supervises maintenance staff.
- Makes recommendations regarding changes required to make the plant more efficient and supports Capital Projects

including commissioning of new equipment and systems.
- Manages the transportation, use and disposal of hazardous materials on the site and functions as the designated Plant

Incident Commander for cleanup of oil and chemical spills.
- Prepares operating orders and maintains plant manuals and drawings.
- Administers the Plant Safety Work Protection Practices System (WPP). Authorizes workers in WPP Manager.
- Administers environmental permits, worker safety and technical training, NERC compliance for the site.
- Scrutinizes daily log sheets and other production data, maintains related records, systems and prepares reports.
- Approves regular time sheets, overtime, stores withdrawals, purchases, and staff schedules.
- Promotes training and safety programs and participates in the preparation of training material.
- Employer representative on the regional Joint Health Safety Committee.
- Assists in handling of union grievances.
- Assesses applicants and employees and makes recommendations regarding hiring and transfers.
- Maintains liaison with various government agencies including the GVRD, fire, police, emergency response teams and

environmental agencies as well as suppliers, contractors, mayors of local municipalities and cities and the public regarding
the operation of the plant.
- Functions as the management representative on site.
- Acts for the M2 Manager and Plant Operations during absences as assigned including support of Prince Rupert

Generating Station (RPG).
** What you bring**
- Diploma /Degree from a technical institute in engineering, business or trade certification, or equivalent experience
- At least four years’ experience in stations or generation maintenance and operations. Experience in a Thermal Generating

Station would be an asset.
- During this period there must be experience in a leadership capacity of two to three years
- Technical knowledge of operating, maintenance, commissioning, safety, and environmental aspects of a Generating

Station.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to commission equipment
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of hazardous materials, appropriate methods of transport and use, and relevant regulations
- Ability to supervise and provide technical direction to staff engaged in the operation and maintenance of the plant.

Experience in a Thermal Generation Station would be an asset.
- Ability to analyze technical problems associated with the operations of the plant, assess potential hazards and make

timely decisions, ensuring the safety of staff, the plant and the environment.
