General Labourer

Provides production support and performs manual labor along a production line. Provides quality, effective parts, while meeting production targets. Responsible for cleaning work areas and equipment and perform other tasks as required. May be assigned to a particular production area

**Performance Expectations**
- Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
- Maintain department 5S requirements.
- Submit and implement lean and safety suggestions
- Follow priorities set by supervisors and sequence their tasks within a set framework.
- Perform quality checks as required.
- Interfaces with Lead hands, Set-up personnel, Maintenance workers and co-workers.
- Responsible for quality control. Reject product outside of specifications.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
- Communicate with operators from other shifts.
- Provide on-the-job guidance to new employees.
- Learn continuously on the job; take part in in-house training sessions to learn about new products or processes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and notify your Supervisor or Manager of any known hazards

**Credentials**
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1- 3 years relevant work experience

**Desired Characteristics**
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Able to follow basic instructions
- Able to perform repetitive tasks
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Able to interact with co-workers to exchange information about tasks and to co-ordinate work.
- Able to work mainly independently. Work with partners to carry out tasks which require co-operation.
- Learn continuously on the job. Take training in first aid and in the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). Take part in in-house training sessions to learn about new products or processes.
- Physical Strength - Able to lift 40-45 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to work three rotating shifts, and overtime as required.
