We’re looking for an Advisor, Health & Safety Expert to join our diverse & vibrant team. Rümi is a bright new member of the ATCO family and operates 3 lines of business under the Rümi umbrella: Rümi Products & Services, ATCOenergy and Blue Flame Kitchen.
This role focuses on providing support and guidance in developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the Health Safety Management system.
On a daily basis, you’ll...
- Develop and implement fit-for-purpose health and safety-related programs and documentation for Rümi Products & Services, Blue Flame Kitchen and ATCOenergy.
- Contractor Management: Handle the end-to-end safety component of the contractor life cycle, including prequalification assessment, assisting Rümi contractors in reaching ATCO H&S standards, award and ongoing audit and tracking of contractor compliance to ATCO policies, OHS requirements, contractual H&S obligations for all 3rd party contractors, in a timely manner.
- Manage H&S SharePoint site for contractor management of all health & safety documentation.
- Conduct on-site visits for all Rümi service providers to ensure H&S compliance at a minimum twice a year or as deemed necessary.
- Advise and support Rümi employees in all aspects of Health and Safety legislative and corporate requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting training, orientation, safety meetings, risk assessments, audits, inspections and maintenance of the Health and Safety program
- Act as the ATCO Energy liaison with OHS regulatory agencies regarding serious incidents, complaints, and inspections.
- Supports and/or participates in internal and external audits related to OHS management system conformity.
- Day-to-day responsibility to identify, report and educate employees on ATCO policy and make recommendations to employees and management to mitigate future incidents.

What you have:
- Occupational Safety Certificate, Diploma or Degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) or the willingness to complete
- Minimum 5 - 10 years of industry (commercial or residential) experience in a corporate safety-related role.
- Experience with commercial kitchens is considered an asset.
- Experience developing Occupational Health and Safety Programs required.
- Knowledge of OHS Act/Regulations, CSA Standards, other legislative requirements, applicable federal, provincial, and municipal regulations/legislation, industry standards, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act and best practices
- Monitor health and safety performance and analyze trends and provide recommendations on the next steps.
- Work with other key business groups to develop training materials related to Health and Safety.
- TapRoot® Cause Analysis experience is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
- First Aid, including CPR and AED certification.
- Strong report writing skills and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to travel to support business needs within Alberta.
- This position is a safety-sensitive role and has additional pre-employment requirements as identified in the Alcohol & Drug policy 6.2.3 Applicant Testing.
- Valid Alberta driver’s license (Class 5).
