Support Worker Job Description

**Duties**:

- Provides supervision and/or assistance in the activities of the resident's daily living requirements including feeding, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, bathing, and dressing based on their individual plan of care.
- Provides oral hygiene and dental care to residents.
- Promotes and ensure the provision of resident focused care and provides cognitive, emotional, spiritual, cultural, physical and social support to each resident.
- Provides care and services to the residents related to their sensory aides, such as hearing aides, glasses, etc.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate from an approved College or private institution.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when assisting residents, family members, and visitors.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to be sensitive and empathetic to the individual needs of the residents.
- One (1) year experience in a long-term care setting is an asset.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
- Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
