Community Specialist In Training (HIA)

Purpose
A Community Specialists (CS) In Training will be provided work experience and mentorship to develop a career in the human services field. This position will support front-line employees in creating a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. The conscientious CS In Training will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Key Functions
- Provide support for direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun and safe environment
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
- Empower people to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Communicate effectively with their team members, which includes to individuals, families, and co-workers
- Build a vision of inclusion, one person at a time
- Model socially appropriate behaviors and assist/ encourage participants to make and maintain appropriate community connections
- Support participants in some aspects of personal hygiene and personal care as required.
- Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures
- Understand and comply with all emergency processes and risk management
- Perform other job-related activities as required

**Qualifications**:

- Working towards completion of High School Diploma and little or no work-related experience.
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values
- Ability to provide a clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
- Standard First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset

Working Conditions
This is a temporary full-time position from July 4, 2023 to August 25, 2023, that requires flexible availability. Shifts are scheduled between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant from the Government of Canada, which requires that the employee must be between 15 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.

**Compensation**:
**Hourly Rate**: $15.00
