North Battleford, Canada Discovery Co-operative Full time

Discovery Co-operative is looking for a Full-Time Health & Safety/Asset Protection Advisor for our Administration Department located in North Battleford, SK.

**What you’ll do**:
Reporting to the Controller, this position will be responsible for providing guidance and support to Senior Leaders and Team Leaders in the areas of Health, Safety and Asset Protection including analysis, reporting, incident investigation, OH&S committee coordination, hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency response plans, site inspections, and policies, procedures and manuals as it relates to Health, Safety and Asset Protection. Primary Responsibilities will include:
**- Health and Safety**:

- Develop strategies on safety programs and initiatives in coordination with Senior Leaders. Provides advice and participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programing for the Co-op. This includes developing and monitoring safe work practices and procedures, incident reporting, incident investigation, hazard identifications, risk assessments, emergency response procedures/codes, policies, manuals, and forms across the organization.
**- Asset Protection**:

- Ensures the protection of Discovery Co-op’s assets including people, building and merchandise. Develops and updates Asset Protection policies, procedures, and plans in coordination with Senior Leaders. Ensures proper incident reporting documentation and related activities are completed in accordance with Discovery Co-op policy and procedures for theft, fraud, vandalism, accident and injuries.
**- Compliance**:

- Responsible for the development and maintenance of Co-op Health and Safety/Asset Protection policies, procedures, standards, checklists, and systems. Schedules quarterly meetings with Management to review industry best practices, identify required policy updates, and conducts Health and Safety Inspections and Asset Protection/Security audits to support compliance with Co-op policies and procedures.
**- Training and Orientation Opportunities/Records**:

- Works with the Human Resources Team to coordinate and facilitate Health, Safety and Asset Protection orientation and training for all new and existing employees. This includes preparing and delivering presentation materials and facilitating and/or schedule training/certification opportunities for Team Members.
**- Legislative and Regulatory Changes**:

- Responsible for remaining current with all federal and provincial legislation and regulatory compliance changes.
- **Perform other duties assigned**

**Who you are**:
You are looking for a career in Health and Safety and:

- Have an Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or Diploma
- 3+ years or more of relevant experience in the areas of Health and Safety, Asset Protection or Law Enforcement. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be an asset.
- Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) would be an asset.
- Asset Protection Industry Certification preferred or will be required within 1 year upon hire.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification/WHMIS/OHC Level 1 & 2 or a willingness to obtain.
- Must be available to provide emergency response support after hours where needed.
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with key business partners.
- Solid working knowledge of health and safety legislation and asset protection best practices is a must.
- Is goal orientated, self-reliant and capable of managing competing priorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be a proven team player with effective leadership skills.
