**Position Overview**:
Responsible to set-up and operate the computer numeric controlled (CNC) brake press, which makes precision bends, punches or cuts into material to produce and/or manufacture aircraft and aerospace components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies in accordance with customer or engineering specifications, Company procedures, SWIMS, etc.
**What You Will Do**:
- Interact with Supervisor and Charge Hand by communicating and receiving instruction in the transition of the workflow and production work scheduling; to assess current material needs and/or to address any problems accordingly.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and the use safety equipment will be the highest priority for you and your co-workers.
- Ensure the efficient movement of production parts identified as priority (AOG or Critical).
- Work with, read and/or interpret drawings and sketches, blueprints and/or mylars and read and understand manuals/specifications, or sample parts, to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products.
- Responsible for the operation, proving of programs, operating controls, setting all machine functions, deburring and inspection of parts to assure conformance to blueprints, customer specifications, Company workplace instructions, SWIMS, manuals, etc.
- Sequence operations and set-up requirements and follow procedures, work orders, customers specifications and engineers drawings.
- Calculate, blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage and tooling for each part being formed.
- Set-up and efficiently operate other tools and equipment relating to the CNC brake press and/or as dictated by the task at hand.
- Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and machine functions and conduct process checks during operation to maintain all required tolerances and quality.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Nova Scotia Provincial Health and Safety Legislation.
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
- Perform routine maintenance on work equipment; keep tools, equipment and immediate work area(s) in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Maintain and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable to the area you will be in or the operation or task you are about to conduct.
- Become familiar with applicable safety data sheets (SDS), safe work procedures, and/or regulations affecting the work and/or this workplace.
**What You Will Bring**:
- Completion of High School (Grade 12), equivalent experience and/or training.
- Completion of Global Harmonized System (WHMIS) course.
- Completion of an aircraft blueprint course or have demonstrated tested ability to read aircraft blueprints.
- Completion of CNC Brake Operator Course
- Minimum Level A Sheet Metal experience working with manual brake presses.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the Canadian Security Clearances.
- Must possess a high level of manual dexterity, attention to detail and a strong interest in aircraft assembly, repair and/or overhaul.
- Must be able to work with others co-operatively and follow directives precisely.
- Knowledge of processes, products and equipment and ability to read blueprints and engineering documentation will be considered an asset
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gear.
