Learning Specialist (1 year temporary contract)

BC Public School Employers’ Association is a small, dynamic team. Our highly skilled staff work with challenging issues in the complex K-12 public school sector. We are seeking a Learning Specialist to develop and deliver training/professional development on a variety of human resource topics. Your contributions will support the 60 public school districts across British Columbia.

This role is a 1 year temporary contract.

As our Learning Specialist, you will design and deliver effective training programs using a variety of instructional techniques to cater to a wide array of learning needs. You will evaluate and adapt current training and materials to reflect evolving human resources issues and priorities, including assessing materials and making improvements through a DEI and Reconciliation lens. This position requires a strong blend of instructional design expertise, project management skills, and a passion for creative and innovative ways of learning.

What you’ll do

Evaluate current in-person and live virtual training and adapting materials

**Lead the digital on-demand series project**:
Adapting/updating the course curriculum and training materials to be suitable for an on-demand format

Writing in-course project assignments

Writing in-course quizzes/exams

Writing training scripts

Shooting video segments

Reviewing and approving course elements

Liaising with Open School BC

Create new courses requested by schools districts (e.g., Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)

Deliver in-person and live virtual training

What you bring

Post-secondary education in a related discipline

Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

Strong understanding of adult learning and e-learning design principles

Experience in design, developing media creations, and using digital design tools such as Captivate, Articulate 360 suite, etc.

Experience collaboratively working with internal departments, external stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify training needs and develop resources

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Demonstrated ability working with advanced MS Office Suite, primarily focused in Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Understanding of agile methodology and change management

Solid knowledge of instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE) and training evaluation methods to measure and report on learning outcomes

Verbal and written fluency in English

Hiring range starts at $100,000

13% in lieu of benefits
