- JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and post-anaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.-:

- Reporting to the Manager, Employee & Labour Relations, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), is a skilled, experienced and trusted advisor who works directly with the business to provide strategic and tactical HR support and guidance while translating business needs into appropriate HR strategy.
- This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive employee and labour relations environment by building and maintaining strong relationships with the union, employees and leaders.
- The HRBP champions corporate strategies and initiatives at the program level while ensuring alignment with Hospital policies and procedures, legislation, collective agreements and the Corporate Mission, Vision and Values, while minimizing risk and financial liability to the organization.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice to leaders in aligning HR strategy to support business objectives.
- Act as trusted and strategic advisor to leaders on HR issues within an assigned portfolio, supporting the execution of daily operations while aligning with the strategic corporate plan.
- Assist in the development, management and implementation of human resources strategies that cultivates a culture of high trust, accountability, fairness and engagement.
- Establish effective working relationships with unions. Ensure leaders understand the financial liability and risks associated with failing to resolve issues.
- Investigate grievances, prepare leaders for grievance hearings, facilitate conversations and negotiate resolutions under a designated portfolio.
- Prepare and complete the grievance file for matters escalating to mediation/arbitration, as required.
- Lead/ support Leaders in conducting workplace investigations, including but not limited to, Code of Conduct, Harassment, Violence, Theft, Performance, Drug Diversion, Violence in the Workplace, etc.
- Provide strategic advice, support and coaching to leaders regarding employee conduct, performance, conflict, etc.
- Provide advice, support and coaching to leaders re: Attendance and Management Program process in collaboration with Employee Health Services (EHS).
- Provide advice, support and guidance on complex accommodation and return to work issues by partnering with leaders, EHS and Union.
- Support leaders in the implementation and execution of Corporate and Human Resources Programs at the department level.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to leaders in communicating and implementing programs and initiatives to staff and key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Post-graduate Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of generalist experience in HR, preferably in a unionized and/or hospital environment.
- Sound knowledge of employment law including Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act.
- Proven ability to interface effectively with senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience and technical knowledge/exposure to HR best practices in employee & labour relations, recruitment & selection, organization design, performance management, change management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust at all levels of the organization.
