Our main short-term goals are to educate a diverse audience about an even more diverse spectrum of history, to entertain and inspire, and to promote Indigenous knowledge. This includes the creation and publication of History Showcase calendars, all of which contain rare historic photographs as well as short articles. In addition to these activities, we also work with private clients to research and create personal family history books, history vignettes, and the occasional poster. The goal of all this work is to create an easy way for people of all backgrounds and walks of life to interact with Alberta’s vibrant history.

We require a part-time bookkeeper to do payroll, invoicing, a backlog of monthly bookkeeping and year end for two years, 2022, 2023. Hours of work would be 1 to 2 days per week for 4 to 6 hours per day. The days of work are very flexible, and we are more than willing to accommodate those with other jobs, childcare requirements, or who require specific days off as necessary. Pay would be determined by a set hourly rate and is negotiable. The work location will be split between in-office and remote work. We would prefer to hire on a long-term basis, although those looking for temporary work are also welcome to apply.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Full cycle accounting including AR, AP, expenses, revenue, accruals, inventory, payroll, etc.
- Bookkeeping functions such as posting expenses, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable
- Prepare, and review financial statements; collect, analyze, balance, maintain and investigate account information to help maximize the accuracy of the reported numbers
- Prepare financial statements, month and year end reporting
- Inventory tracking and monthly reconciliation for true costing
- Prepare and report GST, PST, WCB
- Prepare and complete payroll, source deductions
- Maintain historical financial record by filing and organizing documents
- Bank account, credit card, and fleet card reconciliations
- Prepare and file customized reporting as necessary
- Prepare monthly cash forecasts to carry forward expected cash position

**Knowledge and Skills Required**:

- Ability to resolve accounting/reconciliation issues, prioritize tasks, set goals, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks and other accounting software
- Must be patient, flexible and eager to take on responsibilities.
- Strong proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suit - Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well organized with a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people, able to work independently as well as co-operatively on a team
- Excellent decision-making and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties simultaneously
- Accuracy - pays close attention to detail and ensures work and information are complete and thorough

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- 1-2 years professional experience in bookkeeping and inventory accounting
- Relevant diploma or degree from a recognized post secondary institute

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $19.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 25 per week
