**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Department Administrator, Studio Arts (direct supervision) and functionally to the Area Coordinators (fulltime faculty members) for the Print Media program, in the Department of Studio Arts, the incumbent acts as a resource person for faculty and students on matters related to studio maintenance, equipment, and safety practices. In collaboration with all concerned, they process and monitor all approved capital and operating budget transactions. They will also functionally supervise casual staff as well as work-study students.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Monitor and administer all Print Media studios and labs in support of curriculum and area research needs and supplies. Managing equipment and print lab booking system through WebCheckout in correspondence with open studio access hours.
- Train and supervise Assistant Technicians and Studio Assistants.
- Monitor health and safety procedures, instruct students and faculty on health and safety regulations and new procedures, and implement WHMIS system in print shops.
- Ensure studios are clean and in good operating condition daily. Request repairs, maintenance, and installation of new equipment (as needed).
- Direct the proper use of studio equipment and supplies.
- Prepare orders, manage inventory for student course kits and oversee distribution of supplies to each print area, in consultation with full-time faculty. Place purchase requisitions and complete expense reports at the end of each month, through Unity.
- Provide technical guidance to students including conducting specialized studio workshops as needed. Upkeep of Print Media’s Moodle Hub and support effective communications with registered print students.
- Coordinate faculty needs and communicate with faculty in the function of studios.
- Perform administrative tasks in support of Print Media studios.
- Other responsibilities such as researching new products and equipment, preparing of technical handouts, updating digital lab operating systems etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Arts/Print Media or a relevant discipline and at least two years of relevant work experience or Diploma of Collegial Studies (three year technical DEC) and four years of relevant work experience.
- Understanding of print media studio processes and the ability to use technical equipment (e.g., litho plates, printing press etc.).
- Working knowledge of studio health and safety regulations, best practices and WHMIS.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge (level 4) of spoken and written English to assist/instruct and to write experimental procedures and instructions. Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken French to provide information to students.
- Experience with Print Media processes and techniques.
- Basic knowledge of Word (to create documents) and of Excel (to input data). Good knowledge (intermediate level) of Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize, to multitask, and to work under pressure in a fast
- paced academic environment.
- Availability and ability to, when required, work outside normal working hours.
- Will require use of respiratory protection and enrollment in the University’s Respiratory Protection Program.
- Will require enrollment in the University’s Hearing Conservation Program.
- Physical ability to perform primary responsibilities (for example occasionally lifting/carrying/moving with assistance items weighing > 45 kg (100 lbs) and frequently lifting/carrying/moving without assistance items weighing < 23kg (50 lbs)) attested by successful completion of medical evaluation to the University’s satisfaction.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Moodle and Microsoft Office 365 and of communication tools such as MS Teams and Zoom is desirable.
