**IT Advisor (Data Center and Cloud)**

Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
**Position Highlights**
This role is accountable to provide technical expertise as it relates data centre and cloud technologies across BC Hydro.
Acts as business lead by participating in key infrastructure projects by providing technical guidance and ensuring that
projects meet data centre technical requirements.
**What you'll do**
- Provides data center and cloud expertise in the planning of capital projects and work programs based on anticipated
operational requirements.
- Provides leadership and guidance to outsourced infrastructure and cloud service providers and provide oversight to the
deployment, monitoring, maintenance and support of cloud and data center services
- Reviews and approves Technology service requests, including accepting and reviewing the request, making approval
decisions, tracking, and communicating request approval status to requester, and ensuring timely closure.
- Ensures that data centre and cloud issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Participates in software asset management initiatives, including reviewing software license deployment and optimizing use
of BC Hydro software assets.
- Monitors infrastructure and cloud capacity and performance metrics, and supports status based on hardware and software
product lifecycle.
- Participates in cloud deployment, infrastructure upgrade and refresh initiatives to ensure alignment with IT infrastructure
and cybersecurity requirements.
- Assesses, recommends, and implements improvement opportunities to optimize cloud and data center operations to
achieve cost efficiency and performance objectives
- Liaises with BC Hydro stakeholders and other Technology groups to ensure that operational and project Infrastructure
needs are met.
- Represents IT Operations in Cloud Governance committee to optimize cloud adoption and management processes
- Assists with infrastructure invoice review, material acquisition, and budget management.
**What you bring**
- University or College degree in Computer Science or related field, or a combination of education and experience may be
considered.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing IT Infrastructure projects in the area of data centres and/or cloud
technologies or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of IT Infrastructure technology concepts, including IaaS / PaaS /SaaS Cloud services, data center,
system management, virtualization, storage, and security.
- Certifications in AWS or Azure along with Cloud experience would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of FinOps would be considered an asset.
- A good understanding of ITIL processes and concepts is desirable.
- The ability to understand IT infrastructure requirements and translate them into actionable plans and initiatives.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity threats, risks, and mitigations would be considered an asset.
- Strong customer focus with desire to deliver exceptional service and project outcomes.
- Experience in 3rd party vendor management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with a wide range of technical and business audiences.
