**The Opportunity**

Recreation and Culture Services builds vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.

Under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Programmer, and reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Summer Fun Trailer Convenor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the City of Barrie’s Summer Fun Trailer. Specifically, this position is responsible for program scheduling, staff training, set up and take down of trailer and customer service. This position supports children, youth and families in accessing recreational opportunities through a non-traditional method, while leading and coaching 3 Camp Staff including Summer Fun Trailer Leaders and Volunteers. Overall, this position focuses on enhancing children, youth and families participation in activities within our community, by being inclusive to all and increasing the reach and quality of recreation services offered by the City of Barrie.

**Education **(degree/diploma/certifications)
- Currently enrolled in or is a student in Secondary School, College, or University*
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate from HIGH FIVE® National**:

- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications**:

- Valid Ontario Class “G2” or greater Driver’s Licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business
- _Minimum of 16 years of age_ _or turning_ _16 by_ _the_ _end_ _of the_ _calendar year_ _and must_ _have_ _attended one of the academic_ _establishments_ _listed_ _above_ _the year_ _in_ _which_ _they_ _are_ _applying_ _for_ _employment_ _and/or_ _returning_ _the following year_
- **Must_ _provide_ _proof_ _by_ _June_ _30_ _and/or_ _first_ _date_ _of_ hire_

**Experience**
- Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom
- Ability to troubleshoot technology
- Six (6) months of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities in a work environment
- Demonstrated experience with children, youth and families
- Knowledgeable in skateboarding/BMX/scootering culture (an asset)

**Knowledge/Skill/Ability**- Demonstrated Ability to:
