**Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Outreach and Engagement**:Conduct outreach efforts to engage individuals experiencing homelessness in the community, including shelters, encampments, and on the streets.

**Assessment and Support**:Provide individualized assessments of substance use and mental health needs. Develop tailored support plans that include harm reduction strategies, recovery-oriented services, and referrals.

**Counselling and Therapy**:Offer one-on-one counselling, group therapy, and crisis intervention to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.

**Referral Services**:Connect clients to community resources such as detox programs, rehab centers, mental health services, housing assistance, and vocational support.

**Collaboration**:Work closely with other service providers, such as housing specialists, healthcare professionals, and social workers, to ensure clients have access to comprehensive care.

**Documentation and Reporting**:Maintain detailed, accurate records of client progress, interactions, and case notes in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.

**Advocacy and Education**:Advocate for client needs within the healthcare, social services, and housing systems. Educate clients about harm reduction techniques, recovery options, and available resources.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education and Experience**:

- At a minimum, a diploma in the field of mental health and addictions, or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Addiction Studies, Psychology, or a related field, considered an asset.
- Certification or license as an addiction counselor (e.g., CAC, CCAC) considered an asset.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders, preferably in outreach or community-based settings.
- **Skills and Knowledge**:

- Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities, harm reduction strategies, and trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with local resources and services for homelessness, mental health, and addiction recovery.
- Ability to work independently in challenging environments, including street outreach and in emergency settings.
- Excellent communication, crisis management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with clients in a non-judgmental, empathetic manner.

Pay: $25.00-$28.50 per hour
