Working closely with the Senior Clinical Education Specialist, the Clinical Lead is accountable for coordinating and providing clinical support to the branches, the nurses and PSWs participating in the Wound Skills Development Project. **This one-year contract position** will be responsible for the coordination, implementation and support of:
1.The IIWCC certification for up to 70 nurses (RNs, RPNs, and NPs) from branches across Ontario
2.The micro credentialing of 800 Personal Support Workers from branch across Ontario in Lower Limb Wound Prevention (LLWP).

The Clinical Lead for the Wounds Skills Development Project will work closely with the branch Clinical Resource Nurse/Clinical Manager and Area Director, as well as the National Clinical Practice Leader responsible for Wound Care to ensure evidence based and best practice related to wound care.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Works closely with the Clinical Practice Leader responsible for Wound and the Branch Clinical Manager to provide support and coordination over the 9 months required for nurses to complete the IIWCC.
- Works with the Home Care Solutions branches to coordinate PSWs across Ontario to participate in the LLWP micro credential program.
- Works closely with the branches to identify PSWs, to clarify role, skill requirement, and support needed to successfully integrate wound learning into practice.
- Collects and reviews the completed Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) to ensure learning needs are addressed
- Establishes a Community of Practice for PSWs who are working through and have completed the Wound micro credentialing programs
- Ensures PSWs and nurses understand their responsibility to complete the program.
- Develops tools that support appropriate reporting of wound related issues by the PSW to the branch manager
- Recommends appropriate documentation practices for PSWs related to wound reports
- Supports the evaluation process for the WSD program. Identifies training and support improvements based on the evaluation results and ongoing feedback.
- Works with the branch to identify support requirements based on the participants PLAR and goals, and required patient population needs and skills.
- Educates, mentors, and provides oversight to branches. Supports the branch as they support the PSW to demonstrate their skills.
- Facilitates a learning environment where evidence-based knowledge is translated via education to optimize the patient’s outcomes and experiences. This includes developing education plans and activities aimed at improving the PSWs’ knowledge, skills, and competencies related to wound risk. Education methods will be offered to best meet the learning style of the PSWs and nurses and incorporates the principles of adult learning to optimize staff experience (e.g., supports skills labs in person as required).
- The Clinical Lead is part of the National Clinical, Quality, Health Information & Privacy team and will support the advancement of Professional Practice.
- The Clinical Lead will support and participate in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives where appropriate, while adhering to Bayshore policies and procedures.
- Clinical Leads will be expected to travel, at times, to branches across Ontario, as well as supporting participants as required.
- The Clinical Lead will maintain privacy and confidentiality of client, employee, and corporate information.
- The Clinical Lead will demonstrate knowledge of Standards of Practice guidelines of Ontario CNO Code of Ethics as required.
- Complete other tasks as requested.
- This position is based on a hybrid working model - there will be travel requirements to ensure branches and participants are supported.
