The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing the daily operations of the Maintenance and Grounds Maintenance Teams at Sonora Resort. This person will execute the job duties below to ensure continued functioning and upkeep of the resort's infrastructure. The Assistant Maintenance Manager is expected to function within a team environment and provide positive leadership within the Maintenance and Management teams.

**JOB DUTIES**:
Become familiar with, maintain, and make minor repairs to building, grounds and mechanical infrastructure such as domestic water systems, wastewater systems, diesel power generation, fire suppression systems, HVAC systems, pools and hot tubs, irrigation systems, lighting, plumbing, vehicular and off-road equipment;
Delegate and clearly communicate tasks to Maintenance and Grounds Maintenance team members.
Assist the Maintenance Manager with onboarding and training new employees in order to become fully integrated;
The Assistant Maintenance Manager is expected to work alongside their team on daily maintenance tasks, scheduled checks, repair of resort tools and equipment, and replacement or maintenance of all assets occasionally - this may extend beyond a standard eight-hour shift;
Ongoing and continuous performance management of all direct reports, under supervision of Maintenance Manager;
Implement and oversee organizational processes for the Maintenance department (creating work lists, checklists, scheduling routine tasks etc).
Will be required to drive motorized vehicles and operate lightweight machinery;
Ensure excellent communication daily within the Department and General Manager on all issues; particularly those affecting customer services, employee relations and the economical operation of the Department;
Act in a manner befitting a member of management, reflecting sound employee relations and a positive attitude towards Sonora Resort
Be aware of and promote safety standards to maintain a safe, fair and harassment free environment for all employees and guests;
This is a Full-time, year-round Management position that works on site at the Resort in shift work rotations. Seeking a start date as soon as possible.

Water taxi transportation is provided to and from Campbell River for scheduled work shifts
Staff are required to leave the resort on their scheduled non-working days and are responsible for securing further transportation and accommodation thereafter.

Profile description

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Must possess valid work authorization to work in Canada. Sonora Resort is unable to assist with obtaining work authorization;
Electrical experience in AC and DC power;
Hot tub and swimming pool maintenance experience;
HVAC experience is an asset;
Any additional education or experience in resort infrastructure or construction trades, carpentry, plumbing or related fields would be an asset;
Must possess thorough understanding of resort infrastructure; experience in a live-in resort environment is preferred;
Ability to troubleshoot systems in a logical manner, multi-task effectively in a changing environment and creative problem-solving skills are necessary;
Occupational First Aid Level 3 or other First Aid experience considered an asset;
Transport Canada Small Vessel Operator's certifications an asset;
Fluency in English is required; additional languages considered an asset;
A positive and proactive attitude;
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Adapts easily to change in a work environment with changing priorities..
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
