**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Infectious Disease, Sexual Health & Harm Reduction/Chief Nursing Officer, this exciting opportunity would be well suited for an enthusiastic and collaborative leader who thrives in an environment of innovation and change. Responsible for the management of assigned programs within the Division while working with a multi-disciplinary team, you will be ensuring that health protection, promotion and prevention strategies and activities adhere to Provincial Public Health Standards, protocols, applicable legislation, and prescribed regulations and standards. Program assignments include Vaccine Preventable Disease, Infectious Disease & Tuberculosis Control, and Sexual Health.
- You will use your skills and experience to oversee enforcement of Public Health actions as they relate to the implementation of legislation (e.g., health promotion and protection, immunization of school pupils, day nurseries), prepare legal orders from the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) based on legislation, accompany staff to lay orders, ensure monitoring of client compliance as required, and provide on-call coverage for communicable disease control.
- You will supervise Public Health Nurses, Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners, and assign work/oversees non-Regional staff, such as physicians, contract nurses, students, and volunteers, and provide technical expertise and leads cross-divisional project teams based on assignment.
- You will develop and implement operational plans for assigned programs based on current evidence-based, specific literature, epidemiologic principles, and legislation. Managing activities of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure program goals and objectives are met, implementing changes to maintain or improve level and quality of service delivery, and ensure staff adopt the same. Evaluate and review program operations to ensure activities are effective, and evidence-based. Initiate, develop, and coordinate research and evaluation initiatives. Implement corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
- You will work in consultation with the Director, Department Privacy Officer, MOH/Associate Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) and corporate support services to coordinate staff activities resulting from legal action in which program information holdings are subpoenaed. Prepare staff for and accompanies them on Court appearances, including reviewing and copying subpoenaed documents.
- You will have the opportunity to represent the Department on advisory committees and coalitions with authority to make decisions, consult, advise, and exchange information on behalf of the Division, acting as a senior consultant to same and advises on infectious diseases and immunization to health services staff, health care professionals, education professionals, day cares, and the community, authorizing letters of advisement to physicians containing recommendations for action, managing the preparation of funding proposals, and participating in corporate initiatives as required.
- You will lead and participate in program and department research activities including collection and analysis of research data, and manage the preparation of and speaks to research reports.
- You will review and approve materials for publication, including press releases and press packages, and respond to media requests for information.
- The requirements for this position would normally be acquired through a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, plus a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a health-related field, progress
